We took a trip to Kew Gardens and were inspired by Marianne North and photographed the amazing plant life to inspire our second project. |

this project was much more independent and students enjoyed developing and experimenting in new and creative media. above top watercolour, ink and acrylic later develped into a collage reflief sculpture painted using spray paint. above: coloured biro and oil pastel used to achieve bright flat colour. |

This final piece was fun to create and had to be done slowly. Acrylic colour was layered up in the background first, before the flowers were painted. Practising ways to control the painting effects is really important to gain top marks. |
Unit 2 Messages (controlled assessment)
Ever wondered how artists develop their ideas?
As you can see here its all about practise makes perfect. Playing with new positions, colours and techniques helps the idea improve. each time the ideas is redrawn it becomes a new version of itself. both these students achieved a B grade. It's easy to see why they did so well they have obviously improved the idea by developing their skill. Also focusing on experimenting with their strongest medium helped them gain marks because they can use it with confidence. unit 2 is worth 40% of the GCSE |
