10 students from year 11 were shortlisted to win this years photography competition. Second prize went to Salma Begum from Poplar's Langdon Park School. Congratulations to all students who entered this competition, i will upload all the shortlisted entries for you to be the the judge too. The event was sponsored by a News International, and the awards ceremony was held in their beautiful offices overlooking the Thames near tower bridge. We were also in the The Wharf The whole school took part in planning our own Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Students created sculptures of Olympic venues, made banners, designed t-shirts, made kites, performed rock anthems, danced, and released one thousand balloons to mark this momentous occasion. All the pieces of work were created as competition entries, which were then judged by the Canadian Olympic team. This model is of Anish Kapoor's Orbit, the iconic sculpture which stands in the Olympic Park. To find out more about art projects designed for, and inspired by, the Olympics, click here. Langdon Park students achieved tremendous success once again at the Reuters photography competition. Fifteen of our school were short-listed this year! Congratulations to Kayleigh for her over all winning entry, she won a beautiful Digital SLR camera. Also a massive well done to, Kim, Masrur, Casey and Johura for winning first prize in their categories. Wonderful work which was professionally printed to A3 and published in a glossy photo magazine. |
