Well done to all the year 10 Artists, in the art exam yeaterday. Im sure lots of studentsd are keen to know what goes on behind the scenes of an art exam so here are some art works in progress. Year 10s have been researching the theme of stereotypes and were inspired by the artists in the Ara gallery and the exhibition Raising the Stereotype. They looked at the art work by a large rage of contemporary artists working in Arab countries as well as looking at the photographic work of British contemporary Cindy Sherman Malak ElShazly, Sara ElKamel, Sarah Ayoub Agha 10 students from year 11 were shortlisted to win this years photography competition. Second prize went to Salma Begum from Poplar's Langdon Park School. Congratulations to all students who entered this competition, i will upload all the shortlisted entries for you to be the the judge too. The event was sponsored by a News International, and the awards ceremony was held in their beautiful offices overlooking the Thames near tower bridge. We were also in the The Wharf TATE Modern Turbinegeneration Year 9 Students have been working towards producing a Mass Sculpture. This theme is inspired by Activity 6 'Mass Sculptural Actions' We have also been inspired by the Kite installations created by Artist Jacob Hasimoto. The project began by observing seeds and pods and making observational studies, these images were used as inspiration for a kite design. All the kites were then stung together into a variety of installations before deciding on our final Sculptural form. Each kite was made using tissue paper and sticks and decorated using watercolours. We discovered the transparency of the tissue paper looked best when lit by a strong light. We took photographs of our sculpture using a variety of different light sources. We are now looking for a place to permanently hang your masterpiece, email your suggestions to [email protected] or tweet us at LpsArtStudio A happy mix of young artists popped in on Monday lunchtimes to make their tribute to local street artist Jonny Vinyl last term. Here is some of the wonderful works you created. We look forward to seeing next terms film project. If you would like to be involved come along to Art 1 on monday afternoons from 1.15 Soon year 8 will be editing their best bits of animation to create a short film. They have enjoyed the project so much that wrote Rob Smith, Director of Bow arts a letter pleading to be given more time with Local artists Carl and Melissa. We are still awaiting Robs decision. Bow arts have also been training up our year 8s to become investigative journalists to on their trip to Chrisp Street market to interview local residents. Students have been documenting what life was like in the past and what it is like living here today while also imagining this area in the future. On Monday 25th November Students will get to see how their stop motion animations are going to be edited together to create a shot film which the public will be able to access on this site. |
