BEST RESULTS EVER!! 67% of our 2012 artists achieved a grade of A* to C Well done everyone! You did yourselves and the Art department proud. We had an amazing Summer exhibition of all your fantastic work, some examples of which can be seen by clicking on this link. To celebrate London 2012 and the Olympic games, the Art department unveiled the amazing mural, affectionately known as "The Torchbearer". During the creation of this beautiful ceramic mural, we worked with the artist Maria Alvarez-Echenique from the Bromley By Bow Centre. A HUGE thank you to Tanvir for your inspired design and to all the talented students involved in its creation! The whole school took part in planning our own Opening Ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Students created sculptures of Olympic venues, made banners, designed t-shirts, made kites, performed rock anthems, danced, and released one thousand balloons to mark this momentous occasion. All the pieces of work were created as competition entries, which were then judged by the Canadian Olympic team. This model is of Anish Kapoor's Orbit, the iconic sculpture which stands in the Olympic Park. To find out more about art projects designed for, and inspired by, the Olympics, click here. |
